How often do you add new activities?
It varies, but we almost always have something in the works on our end! We hope that parents and teachers will check in regularly for updates. You’re also welcome to email us to learn more about some the projects we’ll soon be posting.
Can you come to my K-12 classroom?
If you’re in Suffolk County, NY, we’d love to work out a visit! Email Catherine Markham to discuss possibilities.
How can I purchase a camera trap for my classroom?
Several of our activities are based off camera trap images. If you’re interested in purchasing a camera trap of your own, keep in mind that costs can vary greatly. Many brands – such as Reconyx, Moultrie, Bushnell, and Browning – sell models at a range of price points. While photo quality and durability in the field do generally increase with price, there are a lot of fantastic options available for those with smaller budgets. In addition to the camera trap itself, potential buyers should also budget for batteries, camera cards, and a locking cable to deter theft.  If you want to learn more, eMammal – an online photo repository for citizen scientists and researchers who use camera traps – offers excellent advice for those interested in buying a camera trap. We encourage you to visit eMammal’s  website for more information.
